Northern Albemarle Community Foundation and Women Givers of Northeast NC award more than $38,000 in local grants and scholarships

The boards of the Northern Albemarle Community Foundation and the Women Givers of Northeast NC recently announced local grants and scholarship awards.

This year’s nonprofit grant recipients include:

$2,000 to the Albemarle Commission Senior Nutrition Program for Meals on Wheels – Northern Albemarle
$2,000 to Albemarle Hopeline for general operating support
$2,000 to Arts of the Albemarle for Center Players Junior Theater Festival
$1,000 to Arts of the Albemarle for summer camps
$2,500 to Boys & Girls Club of Elizabeth City for summer camp
$500 to Children’s Home Society of North Carolina for family recruitment
$500 to Chowan/Perquimans Smart Start Partnership for Reach Out and Read
$1,595 to Currituck Family YMCA for Albemarle Family YMCA summer camp
$3,000 to ECP Backpacks for general operating support
$500 to Elizabeth City Habitat for Humanity for emergency home repair
$3,000 to Kids First for child abuse prevention and evidence-based treatment program
$1,500 to the Perquimans County Schools Foundation for Partners in Education
$1,500 to the Perquimans County Schools Foundation for water turtles
$2,595 to Port Discover: North Carolina’s Center for Hands-on Science for science camps and general operating support
$500 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Northern Albemarle in Gates County
$1,500 to River City Community Development Corporation for the Growing to Meet Community Needs program

Phyllis Bosomworth, NACF board president, thanked the community for its support. “These grants and scholarships are important to our community and our quality of life,” she said.

Robin Zinsmeister, Women Givers co-chair, echoed her sentiments, speaking to the importance of these local grants. “Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity and support of many individuals and organizations,” she said.
