Northern Albemarle Community Foundation awards more than $28,000 in grants
The Northern Albemarle Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $28,080 in grants to nine organizations supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $5,000 to Albemarle Commission Senior Nutrition Program for Northern Albemarle Meals on Wheels
- $2,360 to Albemarle Hopeline for Support for Survivors: Services for victims of domestic and sexual violence in our community
- $3,500 to The Beloved Haven for general operating support
- $2,500 to Boys & Girls Club of the Albemarle for Boys & Girls Club in Elizabeth City – general operating support
- $2,500 to Dream Hunt & Fishing Program for outdoor adventure and environmental camps
- $2,360 to La Casa at First United Methodist Church of Elizabeth City for Family Language Learning Dinners: Building bridges through food, conversation and community
- $2,360 to Laura’s Wish Foundation for memorable wishes for terminally ill adults
- $2,500 to The Open Door of Perquimans County, Inc. for The Open Door Food Pantry of Perquimans County Staples for Stability Program
- $5,000 to Wellness Village, Inc. for Homeless to Home project, supplying workshops and resource kits
“We are proud to support local nonprofits and community organizations with our grants,” said Matthew Scribner, advisory board president of the Northern Albemarle Community Foundation. “Permanent philanthropy plays a crucial role in fortifying our communities.”
Funds for 2025 grants came from NACF’s community grantmaking fund. Each year, NACF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

Northern Albemarle Community Foundation Advisory Board Members
Advisory board members are volunteers who live and work in Camden, Gates, Pasquotank and Perquimans counties, positioning them to strategically leverage resources, meet local needs and access opportunities. In addition to Scribner, board members include Dana Rabon (secretary), Brian Beasley, Jackie Lewis Bundy, Phil Hornthal, La Keisha Lighty, Anna Meades, Alysia Mendoza, Maria Pharr, Jennifer Purcell, Anna Stevens, Darlene Tuttle and Rodney Walton.
