The Rockingham County Community Foundation, a North Carolina Community Foundation affiliate, has awarded $12,970 in grants to nine organizations supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

“This year our board chose to focus on food insecurity, a critical need in our community,” said Jonathan Jobe, advisory board president of the Rockingham County Community Fund. “Backing local nonprofits is key to community strength, and our commitment to permanent philanthropy ensures that our grants make a lasting difference.”

Funds for 2025 grants came from RCCF’s community grantmaking fund and the Apple Foundation Endowment for Rockingham County. Each year, RCCF’s advisory board uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to eligible local organizations, including nonprofits, local governments, schools and churches.

This year, RCCF chose to focus $6,000 of its grantmaking dollars on addressing food insecurity. According to data provided by NC Child, 24.8% of children in the county reside in food insecure households and data from NC Public School Forum show that 19.3% of all households in the county are food insecure.
