Swain County Community Foundation awards more than $11,900 in local grants
The board of advisors of the Swain County Community Foundation recently announced $11,930 in local grant awards from the community grantmaking fund.
This year the board granted:
- $2,500 to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Western North Carolina for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Swain County program
- $500 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for the Star Pupils Swain County program
- $2,500 to Swain County Schools for the Imagination Library- Read to Succeed program
- $1,430 to Fontana Regional Library for the Reading Rover Bookmobile 2018 program
- $500 to Reach Out and Read for the Reach Out and Read- Swain County program
- $3,500 to Bryson City Food Pantry for general operating support
- $1,000 to the Autism Society of North Carolina for autism resource specialists in Swain County
Ashley Butcher, board president, thanked the community for its support of the Swain County Community Foundation. “We are proud to support these nonprofit programs that are so vital to the community,” she said. “We are grateful to the many generous individuals and organizations that have supported the Swain County Community Foundation and our work to inspire philanthropy across our community.”
