Swain County Community Foundation awards more than $6,900 in local grants
The board of advisors of the Swain County Community Foundation announces $6,950 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund.
This year’s nonprofit recipients included:
- $1,000 to Fontana Regional Library for the Reading Rover Bookmobile
- $1,950 to Guiding Sheep Ministries, Inc. for the summer STEM camp project
- $500 to Hospice House Foundation of WNC for general operating support
- $500 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Swain County
- $1,000 to Reach Out and Read for Reach Out and Read at Cherokee Indian Hospital
- $1,000 to Swain County School System Athletic Department for the athletic and community event field improvement project
- $1,000 to Swain Family Intervention Services, Inc. for the Swain robotic education and development project
Ashley Butcher, board president, thanked the community for its support of the Swain County Community Foundation. “These grants are important to our community and our quality of life,” she said. “Critical programs would not be possible without the generosity of many individuals and organizations that have support Swain County’s community grantmaking fund.”
