Swain County Community Foundation awards more than $8,000 in local grants

The board of advisors of the Swain County Community Foundation recently announced $8,470 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund and Youth are our Future Endowment.

This year the board granted:

• $3,466 to the Bryson City Food Pantry for general operating support
• $2,000 to the Fontana Regional Library for book collection for childcare centers in 2020
• $500 to the Meridian Behavioral Health Services for support for Swain clients
• $754 to the Mountain Projects to advertise the Affordable Care Act’s open enrollment period for 2021
• $500 to the North Carolina Symphony for virtual music education programs for Swain County
• $1,250 to Reach Out and Read for general operating support in Swain County

Ashley Butcher, board president, thanked the community for its continued support of the Swain County Community Foundation. “We are proud to support these nonprofit programs that are so vital to the community,” she said. “We are grateful to the many generous individuals and organizations that have supported our work to inspire philanthropy across our community.”
