Vance County Community Foundation awards more than $7,000 in local grants (July 2020)

The board of advisors of the Vance County Community Foundation recently announced $7,290 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund and Edna Freeman Murray and Ralph Murray Charitable Fund.

This year the board granted:

• $1,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central North Carolina for Triple Play – Health & Wellness Program for Mind, Body & Soul
• $1,000 to Franklin Granville Vance Smart Start, Inc. for the adolescent parenting program
• $2,000 to the Embassy Cultural Center Foundation, Inc. (McGregor Hall) for the 2021 Spring Children’s Theater
• $1,290 to Kearah’s Place Inc. for The Kearah’s Place Transitional Housing & Resource Center for Women
• $1,000 to the North Carolina Symphony for music discovery for Vance County pre-schoolers
• $1,000 to Vance County High School for Vance County robotics

Wendy Meyer-Goodwin, board president, thanked the community for its continued support of the Vance County Community Foundation. “We are proud to support these nonprofit programs that are so vital to the community,” she said. “We are grateful to the many generous individuals and organizations that have supported our work to inspire philanthropy across our community.”
