Vance County Community Foundation awards more than $8,500 in grants

The Vance County Community Foundation has awarded $8,590 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.

The board of advisors granted:

  • $1,000 to ACTS of Vance County, Inc. for general operating support
  • $2,000 to Boys & Girls Clubs of North Central North Carolina for Triple Play – Health & Wellness Program for Mind, Body & Soul
  • $1,500 to Franklin Granville Vance Smart Start, Inc. for Adolescent Parenting Program (APP)
  • $1,000 to Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines for Girl Scout Leadership Experience in Vance County
  • $1,000 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Star Pupils Vance County
  • $1,000 to Spoken Existence Ministries for Spoken Existence community garden
  • $1,090 to Vision’s Educational Learning & Tutoring Services general operating support

Funds for the grants came from VCCF’s community grantmaking fund and the Edna Freeman Murray and Ralph Murray Charitable Fund.

“We’re so happy to support these organizations,” said Wendy Meyer-Goodwin, advisory board president of the Vance County Community Foundation. “These grants demonstrate our confidence in them.”

VCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, VCCF uses dollars from its endowment funds to make grants to nonprofits that help the local community.
