Wilson County Community Foundation awards $4,000 in grants
The Wilson County Community Foundation (WCCF) has awarded $4,000 in grants to programs supporting the local community.
The board of advisors granted:
- $1,500 to Children’s Hunger Elimination of Wilson (CHEW) for weekend meals for school-age children in food insecure homes
- $1,500 to Hand in Hand Ministry of Winstead United Methodist Church for books for Vick Elementary
- $1,000 to Waymakers of North Carolina / Wilson Commerce Foundation for holiday feeding
Funds for the grants came from WCCF’s community grantmaking fund.
“Giving is an act of gratitude, and we are so pleased to offer these grants” said Matthew Garrett, advisory board president of the Wilson County Community Foundation. “And we have much to be thankful for because of the great work these organizations are doing.”
WCCF is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is led by a local volunteer advisory board. Each year, WCCF uses dollars from its endowment fund to make grants to local nonprofit organizations.
