Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment awards $100,000 in grants
The Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment has awarded $100,000 in local grants from its community grantmaking fund.
The endowment granted:
- $12,500 to Boys & Girls Clubs of the Coastal Plain for SMART Girls
- $7,500 to CareNet Counseling East for Right-ing One’s Narrative: Gaining Understanding, Skills, and Vision for a Better Life
- $15,000 to Center for Family Violence Prevention for New Directions Safe House
- $15,000 to Daughters of Worth for Emergency Services Program
- $7,500 to Hope of Glory Ministries for Community Co-op Program
- $15,000 to Koinonia Community Solutions for Strong, Healthy, Resilient Girls of Pitt County (StrongHER Pitt)
- $10,000 to Pitt County Council on Aging for Older Adult Women Food Insecurity
- $5,000 to REAL Crisis Intervention, Inc. for Victim Emergency Assistance
- $5,000 to Rocking Horse Ranch for Scholarship Fund
- $7,500 to The Mediation Center of Eastern Carolina for Girls Empowered
Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment was founded in 2005 and focuses on supporting nonprofit organizations whose programs or activities create hope, change and a brighter future for women and girls locally. A component fund of the North Carolina Community Foundation since 2020, the endowment has a deep history of grantmaking and community impact in Pitt County and has now made $925,000 in local grants throughout its history.
“Women for Women was started by a group of strong ladies who desired to improve the quality of life for girls and women in Pitt County,” said Kahla Hall, a member of the Women for Women of Pitt County Endowment Grants Committee. “Their legacy continues to be honored through the grants that are being supported this year. The organizations receiving funding have the common goal of creating opportunities to strengthen and improve lives of women and girls in Pitt County.”
