Women’s Impact Network of New Hanover awards $25,000 grant

The Women’s Impact Network of New Hanover County awarded its 2013 grant to DREAMS of Wilmington for a program entitled “Building 21st-Century Global Thinkers through the Arts: A Creative Approach.”   DREAMS of Wilmington is dedicated to building creative, committed citizens, one child at a time, by providing youth in need with high-quality, free-of-charge programming in the literary, visual and performing arts.

DREAMS will use the $25,000 grant from WIN to provide arts education programming to 100 economically disadvantaged youth, ages eight to 17, and to expand the Teen Council, a leadership and college readiness program.  The organization will also implement two Family Arts Nights per semester, as well as the December Family Arts Week.  For more information about DREAMS of Wilmington, please visit their website.

The second annual grants luncheon was held at Wrightsville Beach Sept. 24. Pam Saulsby, a television broadcaster from Raleigh, was the keynote speaker. Jennifer Tolle Whiteside, CEO of the North Carolina Community Foundation, welcomed the group. WIN is a program sponsored by NCCF.
