About Elizabeth “Lib” Hale DuVall
With her zest for living and a desire to help others, Elizabeth Hale “Lib” DuVall touched many lives—brightening faces, bringing hope and giving others the gift of feeling special. One of her many joys was working with expectant mothers and students who needed her love and advice.
Born into a family of four older brothers, she grew up in eastern Kentucky before graduating from Berea College and beginning her career as an RN in the operating room of Aston Park Hospital in Asheville. She continued to work part-time while raising her four children.
When the family moved to Marshall, NC, she became the school nurse for the ESEA Title I program, traveling to all five schools in Madison County and visiting many homes. After eight years with ESEA, she spent 26 years with the Madison County Health Department until she retired.
This scholarship was created to pass along Lib’s love and light to future generations.
