Graduating senior from J.F. Webb High School in Oxford who demonstrates that he/she feels a sense of moral obligation to contribute to the world around them, and who intends to pursue a degree from an accredited institution (four-year, two-year, or community college or university).
Academic merit is not the sole determining factor in the selection process. The student shall have the personality, character, and value system to succeed in his or her chosen profession and to give back to society. Financial need may be a factor, but it will not drive the selection process.
PLEASE NOTE: This scholarship requires an additional essay addressing the following: What is your current community involvement? How do you plan to give back to the community? Where do you see your role in the community 20 years from now?
About John Anthony Little

John Anthony Little grew up in the Grassy Creek community of Granville County where he loved anything with wheels, athletics, and the outdoors – especially anything on or around water. John enjoyed karate, soccer, football, basketball, and as he got older, hunting and fishing. He developed a love for reading and would spend hours learning and analyzing subjects that interested him.
Little attended school in Granville County and spent one year at Virginia’s Fork Union Military Academy before coming back to J.F. Webb High School where he graduated in 2005. He studied at the University of North Carolina Greensboro and then transferred to North Carolina State University where he was scheduled to graduate in the spring of 2009. He planned to pursue a career in the business of landscaping. John passed away in a tragic car accident on November 22, 2008.
Known for his smile, quick wit, inquisitive mind, and deep sense of responsibility, Little was determined to contribute to the world. He had maturity and dependability beyond his age. Once he decided about something, he had the drive to see it through.
Little’s family established the scholarship to honor his memory and provide opportunities for graduating seniors like him who attend J.F. Webb High School.
