About Kathleen Morrissey Klutey
Described by her son Rick as loyal, selfless and an avid reader, Kathy Klutey dedicated her life to helping young people.
She was an educator throughout her career, serving as a guidance counselor for more than two decades at South Lenoir High School in Deep Run, N.C.
She was passionate about helping students find the next step in their education. She encouraged her students to push themselves by aiming high academically and considering a broad range of choices as they applied to colleges.
Her commitment to students did not end when she concluded her career in education. In retirement, she volunteered for education, health care and social welfare organizations in Lenoir and Pitt counties. A scholarship in her name is a natural extension of this commitment.
