Aubriana Hytner

Aubriana Hytner is a recipient of the Ruth Vannoy Price Scholarship. She attends Wilkes Community College and is a native of Jefferson, NC.

Hytner says she craves a deeper understanding of the universe – the why and how of the laws governing the universe – why gravity exists, how the earth can sustain life, and why each human has a different perception and consciousness of the world. In her free time, she watches YouTube documentaries on the search for dark matter, studies astrophysics and reads books by Neil deGrasse Tyson in her free time – inspired to pursue these topics after learning about string theory and the uncertainty principle.

After completing her general education requirements at Wilkes Community College, Hytner plans to transfer to a four-year university to study biology and physics while engaging in undergraduate research. Afterward, she wants to found a mentorship program with local secondary schools or organize stargazing events to connect the public with scientific discoveries.

Hytner is already working toward her goals – serving as an intern in a hospital laboratory and representing North Carolina as one of 300 participants in an environmental science and conservation program.

“As someone who is passionate about learning, I am wholeheartedly grateful to utilize this scholarship towards funding my educational endeavors and ultimately advancing the knowledge of science for humanity.”
