Kameo Morrison
Kameo Morrison received three North Carolina Community Foundation scholarships: the Fred and Betty Worsh Scholarship, the Hobbs Family Scholarship and the Russell Glenwood Baldwin Scholarship.
Morrison, of Brunswick County, will attend Davidson College this fall, where she plans to major in biology on a pre-med track and pursue additional studies in Africana studies or history. She hopes to one day own a prosthetics and orthotics practice after becoming a certified orthotic and prosthetic technician, orthotist and prosthetist.
“My goal is to pursue a career where I can directly help improve people’s quality of life through hands-on care and service,” she said.
While attending Cape Fear Academy, Morrison was elected by peers and faculty to serve in several leadership roles, including the Honor Council, student government, the student admissions ambassador program and the school’s House system. As a senior, she led schoolwide events and service projects and served as captain of the varsity field hockey and lacrosse teams.
At Davidson, Morrison plans to continue her leadership involvement through the Honor Council and Student Government Association. She also intends to participate in research. During an internship at a prosthetics and orthotics practice, she observed a significant amount of nonrecyclable plastic waste generated during the production process and hopes to identify creative solutions to address the issue.
“My plans for college will enable me to grow academically, professionally, and personally,” Morrison said. “With the ultimate goal of making a lasting positive impact by doing my part to help others.”
