About Jan
Jan manages fundholder relations, giving circles, grantmaking innovation and fulfillment of philanthropic goals for central North Carolina.
She worked for more than 25 years in conservation, environmental education, and workforce development. She helped start an AmeriCorps program for young adults and has managed a diversity of public-private partnerships and collaborative grants.
Jan was born and raised on a Kansas family farm, but has called North Carolina home since 1999. She earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Kansas State University and a master’s degree in geography from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa. She studied in England as a Rotary scholar and trained in geography education at the National Geographic Society.
Jan resides in Raleigh with her husband Tom. She loves spending time with her family, hiking, taking care of rescue pets, studying history and singing.
