The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation is an affiliate of the North Carolina Community Foundation and is a growing source of grants for local causes and partner for donors. BHCF was founded in 1999 and is led by a local volunteer advisory board that strategically leverages resources to help meet local needs and create opportunities for the benefit of Bertie and Hertford counties.

The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation awarded $6,100 to the following organizations from its community grantmaking fund:
- $600 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for Bertie-Hertford Childhood Cancer Safety Net
- $1,500 to the Dream Hunt & Fishing Program for outdoor adventure and environmental camps
- $1,000 to Food Bank of the Albemarle for feeding the hungry in Bertie and Hertford counties
- $1,000 to Legal Aid of North Carolina, Inc. for support of Bertie and Hertford County residents in need of civil legal assistance
- $1,000 to Prevent Blindness North Carolina for Bertie and Hertford county vision screening program
- $1,000 to Special Olympics North Carolina for Special Olympics North Carolina Bertie/Hertford

The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation awarded $5,370 to the following organizations from its community grantmaking fund:
- $1,000 to Children Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for Bertie-Hertford Childhood Cancer Safety Net
- $870 to Dream, Hunt & Fishing Outdoor Program for outdoor adventure and environmental education camps
- $2,500 to Good Shepherd Food Pantry of Bertie County, NC, Inc. for fresh fruits and vegetables
- $1,000 to Historic Hope Foundation, Inc. for interpreting the multicultural diversity in colonial Bertie and Hertford counties through words, pictures and artifacts

The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation awarded $4,740 to the following local nonprofit organizations from its community grantmaking fund:
- $1,000 to Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas for the Bertie-Hertford Childhood Cancer Safety Net
- $1,000 to Roanoke Chowan Humane Society for a cat spay and neuter program
- $910 to Special Olympics NC for Special Olympics programs in Bertie and Hertford counties
- $1,830 to Union Rural Fire Department of Hertford County, Inc., to replace emergency lights

The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation has awarded $4,210 through its community grants program to the following local nonprofit organizations:
- $1,000 to the Autism Society of North Carolina for autism training in Bertie and Hertford counties
