Brunswick County Community Foundation awards $6,380 in local grants

The board of advisors of the Brunswick County Community Foundation recently announced $5,080 in local grant awards from its community grantmaking fund and $1300 from the U.S. Open King Mackerel Tournament Fund.

The board granted:

  • $1000 to A Safe Place (The Centre of Redemption) for Minor Prevention Program
  • $1000 to Brunswick Community College Foundation for Emergency Scholarships
  • $1280 to Southport Oak Island Interfaith Fellowship for Helping to Feed Our Most Needy Clients
  • $1000 to The Carousel Center for Help Children Heal from Abuse and Trauma
  • $1100 to WAVES 4 K.I.D.S. for operational support
  • $1000 to WARM ( Wilmington Area Rebuilding Ministry) for Beep Where You Sleep to protect low income children and elders from preventable fire deaths.

Mike Gildea, board president, thanked the community for its continued support of the Brunswick County Community Foundation.  “We are proud to support these nonprofit programs that are so vital to the community,” he said. “We are grateful to the many generous individuals and organizations that have supported our work to inspire philanthropy across our community.”
