More than $13,000 in grants awarded to organizations serving Bertie, Hertford counties

The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation and the Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund, both part of the North Carolina Community Foundation, have awarded $13,370 in grants to organizations supporting the local community.

The Bertie-Hertford Community Foundation and Bertie-Hertford Women’s Fund gathered with grantees, fundholders and donors on June 25 to celebrate their grantmaking and honor the legacy of the late Wayland Jenkins. Jenkins helped found BHCF, and his legacy of philanthropy continues to be felt throughout the community.

“While the need continues to far outpace the resources available,” said Josh Littlejohn, NCCF’s Community Leadership Officer for the Eastern region, in remarks at the event. “We’re honored and privileged to play a small role in recognizing the humanity and dignity of all of our neighbors.”
