Jordan DeVoid
Jordan DeVoid is a recipient of the Andrew Stephen Hendrix Scholarship and is attending the University of North Carolina – Greensboro.
During her sophomore soccer season, DeVoid tore her ACL. Spending a lot of time in orthopedic facilities and physical therapy clinics ignited her passion to help others overcome their injuries.
DeVoid plans to study Kinesiology and Business and eventually become an orthopedic physician assistant.
UNCG’s support and understanding of her injury led DeVoid to commit to the university. She credits her brother, Trevor, who has special needs, and her ACL injuries as inspiration to never give up. DeVoid says the lessons of empathy, resilience, patience and determination will follow her in college and the rest of her life.
“The day I got the call about receiving this scholarship was one day after I found out that I tore my ACL for the second time. I had spent the day processing this news and focusing on how different my first year of college was going to be than expected. Getting the call that I received the Andrew Stephen Hendrix Scholarship lifted my spirits and helped me focus on the positives in my life.”
