• $4,000 to Lumber River United Way, Inc., for kindergarten readiness in Robeson County, with $1,500 to be used specifically to benefit American Indian children in the county. 
• $2,500 to Lumberton Christian Care Center for general operating support
• $1,000 to Red Springs Arts Council for bringing the arts to the community through murals

2019 grants awarded

The board of advisors of the Robeson County Community Foundation recently awarded $56,250 in recovery grants from the North Carolina Community Foundation Disaster Relief Fund to support the long-term recovery of the local community from Hurricane Florence:

• $24,000 to NC Baptists on Mission to repair homes damaged by Hurricane Florence in Robeson County
• $12,500 to NC Conference – United Methodist Church to provide appliances for homes damaged by Hurricane Florence in Robeson County
• $6,000 to Lumberton Rescue and EMS Inc. to fund replacement of responders’ personal protective equipment damaged by contaminants during Hurricane Florence response
• $5,000 to Robeson Family Counseling Center to fund counseling for individuals coping with the effects of loss from Hurricane Florence in Robeson County
• $4,375 to Robeson County Church and Community Center, Inc. for the food pantry, supporting those impacted by Hurricane Florence facing food insecurity in Robeson County
• $4,375 to Lumberton Christian Care Center for disaster relief services including, but not limited to, emergency housing, showers and laundry facilities

Through its community grants program, the Robeson County Community Foundation awarded more than $11,000 to local nonprofit organizations, including:

• $1,250 to UNC Pembroke Entrepreneurship/Incubator-Thomas Center for Entrepreneurship for young entrepreneurs
• $1,000 to Girl Scouts – North Carolina Coastal Pines for Robeson County Girl Scout Leadership Experience
• $1,000 to Robeson County Partnership for Children, Inc. for Exploration Station Summer STEAM Camp
• $1,290 to Robeson County Humane Society to purchase a commercial washer
• $1,000 to Pembroke Housing Authority for Healthy Aging in Creative Arts
